  • Predatory Lending  ( 9 items )
Ohio's protection against predatory lending, after being woefully inadequate for years, will become much more powerful on January 1, 2007. There are now multiple routes, both public and private, to uncover, prevent, and deter predatory lending practices. While these protections will undoubtedly impose some costs on ethical brokers and lenders, at least in the short run, they will help insure that the most vulnerable citizens of the state do not fall victim to practices that often deprive them of their only significant financial asset. In addition, the ethical members of the lending profession will no longer have to compete with those with lower ethical standards, nor have their reputations sullied by them. It should be a ''win-win'' for both borrowers and honest members of the lending industry.
  • Debt Restructuring  ( 4 items )

Our Debt Restructuring and Reorganization practice strives to assist clients at the first sign of financial distress, working out terms with lenders and creditors to avoid costly fees and loss of confidence.  We exhaust every possible option to help both individuals and companies safeguard normal operations and ideally, avoid the need to file bankruptcy.  If filing is inevitable, we provide tailored counsel and guidance to help businesses regain their balance in the market and resume profitable activity, and put individuals on the right financial track.

  • Real Estate  ( 2 items )

The Real Estate Market  has, as an industry, witnessed significant growth and experienced a rapid evolution during a relatively short time frame.  This growth requires continual change and modification in the way investors acquire, finance, develop and lease both residential and commercial real estate.  Both commercial and residential investors, developers and lenders require swift solutions and strategic business advice in today's fast-paced real estate market.

  • Estate Planning and Asset Protection  ( 1 items )

An estate is the total property, real and personal, owned by an individual prior to distribution, generally through a trust or will. Real property is real estate and personal property includes everything else, for example cars, household items, and bank accounts. Estate planning distributes the real and personal property to an individual's heirs.

Asset protection planning involves figuring out and applying a lawful series of techniques that protect your assets from claims of future creditors. The techniques are designed to deter potential creditors from going after you, and frustrate them if they do, generally by making it difficult or impossible for future creditors to grab hold of your assets or collect judgments against you.
